Huh? Did you skip right to the comments section and not read anything or actually look at the photos? The 4s is clearly better in every example... Sharper images, better color, better dynamic range, better contrast, more resolution... Dunno what you were looking at!

But the real shame is that regardless of the resolution, or seemingly good optics that are present on the 4s, it will never be as capable as a cheap P&S with manual control. There's simply not enough manual control on the iPhone. IMO, that hurts it.. A LOT.

Thanks for letting me know, you are the first! I did some searching and it seems that I wrote Missouri instead of Oklahoma. To clarify: the USS Oklahoma was the 3rd ship that was never put back into service. I updated the post.

Hello.

I appreciated reading your blog. It is very well worded and makes me want to visit Hawaii myself.

While your post was over a year ago and likely someone has mentioned this long ago, the USS Missouri was not at Pearl Harbor (or even built) at the time of the Japanese attack. She did serve in WWII though and was actually the place where the Japanese signed the terms of surrender. This is probably what led her to be put into memorial next to Arizona; the ship that represents the start of the war with Japan beside a ship that facilitated the end

Yeah, the 300mm f/4 was a far superior lens - I just wasn't willing to carry the weight on a 3-week vacation overseas. Packing light was really important to us. If it had been a road trip or something, I probably would have stuck with renting the 300mm f/4 instead of buying the 70-300.
